| FreeFlight Systems, an international supplier of professional grade avionics system solutions for commercial and military aircraft, was the first company to certify an airborne WAAS receiver. Founded in 2001 through the acquisition of Trimble’s avionics products division, FreeFlight Systems specializes in the design, development, and production of GPS navigation management systems, GPS/WAAS sensors, and radar altimeters. Operating from our FAA certified design, manufacturing, and repair center in Waco, Texas, we serve our avionics customers with retrofit and OEM applications. <More> Successful ADS-B Test Earns High Marks
from U.S. Air Force and FreeFlight Systems flight tested its ADS-B prototype unit during the Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) recent biannual evaluation by the U.S. Air Force. The purpose of the flight test was to evaluate the advantages of using the ADS-B units on aircraft and ground vehicles for supplemental surveillance during the CAP’s readiness exercises. Throughout each of the simulated disasters including a hurricane, missing aircraft, flooding, VIP transport and derailed trains, the CAP successfully tracked their aircraft through the blue flashing icons on a large traffic display in the CAP Command Center in Burlington, NC. Utilizing the ADS-B capability, the CAP Command experienced improved situational awareness over the standard process where each aircraft was tracked on a white board when the flight crew called in their location on the radio every 30 minutes. According to all reports, FreeFlight Systems’ ADS-B equipment worked flawlessly during the exercise. And for the North Carolina CAP, their overall grade from the Air Force was “Excellent.” FreeFlight Systems Mission We design, manufacture and certify high-performance avionics. Our products are designed to be flexible in their application: they are effective as stand-alone avionics or can be fully integrated to form complex aircraft avionics systems. Our design approach allows us to implement solutions
at the lowest possible cost. |
