The FreeFlight Systems 1204 Sensor is a twelve-channel
parallel tracking GPS/WAAS Sensor certified to TSO-C145a
(Class Beta-1). This sensor determines position, velocity,
and time with integrity for output to a Flight Management
System (FMS) or Navigation Management System (NMS).
The 1204 GPS/SBAS Sensor offers both RS-232 and RS-422
serial interfaces for use with longer cables while
maintaining improved noise immunity.
The TSO-certified 1204 GPS/WAAS
Sensor meets the ADS-B requirements for positional
accuracy and integrity in all regions of the world.
When combined with a data link such as the FreeFlight
Systems 978 MHz Data Radio, the 1204 WAAS Class 1
Sensors are an efficient, effective, and economical
ADS-B Out solution for helicopter and business jet
operators. Combining the FreeFlight Systems’
1204 Sensor with a certified Mode S transponder offers
operators a simple means to equip aircraft with a
compliant 1090 MHz ES ADS-B Out solution.
Flying with improved situational
awareness, ADS-B provides numerous economic, safety
and environmental advantages such as decreased fuel
consumption and carbon emissions, reduced separation
minimums, improved planning for arrivals and departures,
and surveillance in remote areas lacking radar coverage.
An added benefit is the precise aircraft location
information the ADS-B system communicates to both
Air Traffic Control and other nearby ADS-B equipped
aircraft.
