Materials Planner

The Material Planner assists the Planning Manager in day-to-day planning activities by organizing and managing the activities involved in the acquisition, identification, and distribution of products through the supply chain system.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
      • Procures materials for manufacturing and shipment of the final product. This includes identifying and ordering the proper quantity, negotiating pricing and shipment terms and overseeing the timely delivery of materials needed to fulfill customer orders.
      • Maintain and track inventory and orders by assuring adequate inventory, scheduling and receiving shipments of raw materials
      • Respond to demand by assess current orders and forecast future demand in order to provide adequate supplies. When something significant changes in the supply chain and demand, the Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for responding to these changes in demand and solving any supply chain problems that arise.
      • Improve processes to reduce costs
      • Plan inventory control
      • Forecast future supply needs
      • Solve problems in cases of return of products.
      • Analyze delivery statistics, coordinate plant activities and material availability to maximize On-Time Delivery rates
      • Collaborate with cross functional teams such as operations, sales, product management and engineering
      • Seek and recommend ways to improve department methods and procedures and to increase overall efficiency.
      • Assists Planning Manager with various projects such as ERP project
      • Any other duties assigned by Planning Manager
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Business Management or similar preferred
      • Understand basic supply chain concepts or has knowledge of commonly- used concepts, practices and procedures within a field
      • 1-3 years’ experience in supply planning, production planning or inventory management or APCIS Certification CPIM or CSCP
      • Familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/ or Materials Requirements Planning
      • Experience with data entry into ERP system
      • Work independently under minimal supervision.
      • Time management and high attention to detail
      • Ability to be highly analytical, prioritize and manipulate several streams of data
      • Ability to recognize opportunities for change and process improvements
      • Ability to implement projects from planning to execution
      • Ability to balance multiple priorities that must be pursued simultaneously
      • Strong proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel
      • Ability to work in a team
      • Ability to work under stress and pressure
      • Strong initiative/self-starter
      • Strong follow-up skills
      • Highly organized
      • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
      • Must meet deadlines
